Create a dependency
There are 3 ways to create a dependency:
- Hover your cursor over a task or milestone to reveal a grey circle either side. Click on the grey circle and drag your cursor to another task or milestone. As you do this, a dotted blue line will appear which will turn to a solid black line when you release your cursor.
- To the right of the task or milestone, click on the dropdown arrow next to Edit. Select Dependencies.
Next, click Add and then click into the Destination box to search for the relevant task or milestone within your project plan. Select the Type of dependency from the list, Finish to Start, Start to Finish, Finish to Finish, or Start to Finish. Finally, enter the number of days Lag you would like to have between the first task completing and the second beginning. Click OK.
- Click on Edit to the right of the task or milestone to open up a pop-up. Select Actions and then Dependencies. Repeat the steps as outlined above.
Top Tip
- Auto Scheduling must be turned on for Lag to be respected. See How to set-up auto scheduling for more information.
Edit a dependency
There are 3 ways to edit a dependency:
- Click on the dependency line to reveal Edit. You will be able to amend the type of dependency or the lag. Click OK.
- Click on the dropdown arrow next to Edit to the right of the task or milestone and select Dependencies. Click Edit, you will be able to amend the type of dependency or the lag. Click OK.
- Click Edit to the right of the task or milestone. Select Actions, then Dependencies. Click Edit, you will be able to amend the type of dependency or the lag. Click OK.
Delete a dependency
There are 3 ways to delete a dependency:
- Click on the dependency line to reveal Delete. Select Yes to confirm the deletion.
- Click on the dropdown arrow next to Edit to the right of the task or milestone and select Dependencies. Click Delete, select Yes to confirm the deletion.
- Click Edit to the right of the task or milestone. Select Actions, then Dependencies. Click Delete, select Yes to confirm the deletion.
Top Tip
- These dependencies are for illustrative purposes and will only impact upon dependent tasks and milestones if auto scheduling is turned on.
