Step 3.2: How to add help

Help information icons

Help can be added in the following ways via the Administration Cog > Configuration option:

  • Fields: Click on the Edit button and either type your help information directly into the ‘Help’ box or tick ‘Use Generic Help’ to display any help which has been added to the field via the Properties area.
  • One-to-many controls: Click on the downward triangle next to the Add button to reveal the Edit button and type your help information in the 'Help' box
  • Navigation sections: Click on the Edit button and type your help information in the 'Help' box.

When help is added, users will see a clickable icon which will reveal the help instruction.

Generic Headers & Labels

Generic Headers allow you to organise the information in your section. To add a generic header to your section just follow the process for adding a field, searching for ‘Generic Header’. Once the generic header has been added to your section you can re-order and name appropriately.

Generic Labels allow you to add prompts/help at appropriate places in the section e.g. on-screen help text. Follow the usual steps to add a generic label field to your section. You can also use these areas to add links to other useful information using the ‘chain’ icon within the text editor. Just make sure you select 'open in a new tab' so that the user doesn't have to navigate back to what they were doing.
