How to publish a Power BI report

Whilst all Pro users can amend a report and create a version for themselves, only those users with publishing rights can ‘publish’ a report. Once a report is published, it is visible to all users. See ‘Power BI report permissions’ article for more details. 

How to publish a report

Click into your ‘Personal’ folder where your saved reports are stored. 

Click ‘View’ against the report you want to publish and then click ‘Publish’ in the top right-hand corner.

A new pop-up will appear - select ‘Power BI’ and click ‘OK’.

A message will appear in the bottom right-hand corner confirming your report has been published.

 

Finally, click on ‘Cancel’ to come out of the report and navigate back to the Power BI folder. You will now see your published report at the bottom of the existing list. This will be accessible to all users. 

Advice

  • If you need to make changes to a report after it has been published, you will need to publish an updated version and then delete the previous version. 
 

 

How to delete a published report

Locate the report you want to delete and click on the downward arrow and then ‘Delete’.

Caution

  • Once deleted, a Power BI report cannot be restored and will be removed for all users. Therefore, please be absolutely certain before you click on ‘Delete’.
