Filters are a useful tool to control and customise the data being displayed in your Gantt.
To add a filter, click on the Filter button in the top bar and then click on Add Filter. The options presented in the dropdown list for your new filter will be based on the configuration of the task and milestone project table.
Select the filters you wish to apply to your Gantt and then click OK.
The filter button will then display a number next to it signifying that there are filters applied.
Filters can be removed by clicking on the Filter button again and clicking on the ‘X’.
Filtering and dependencies
Dependency links can affect which tasks and milestones are displayed when a filter is applied. In the below example, the filter is set to only show ‘Amber’ status tasks and milestones. However, there are two additional non amber tasks included because they are linked to the amber milestones by a dependency.
Where relevant, the columns on the left-hand side of the Gantt can be expanded to see further details. For example, if you have filtered based on ‘Key’ and wish to double check which tasks and milestones are key, and which are linked to a key item via a dependency link. To add columns to the Gantt click on the Cog button.
Top Tips
- Any changes made to the filters are user specific and will only impact your own view.
- Any new tasks and milestones will be inserted into the existing plan, in the order in which they are added. You can then re-order the entire plan using the sort option within the scheduling function See How to sort your Gantt.
- System Administrators can determine which fields are available as columns in the Gantt chart view. See How to amend which columns are available to users in the Gantt Chart [For System Administrators]
