Advice
- The MS Planner import is intended for the one-time migration of data from MS Planner into Verto and does not support recurring imports. This is because the MS Planner XLSX export does not contain the unique ID fields required to match and update existing records in Verto. As a result, importing the same Planner export file more than once will create duplicate records in your Gantt.
- If a Planner task starts and finishes on the same day, the ‘Milestone’ field in the import determines whether it is imported as a standard one-day task (rectangle) or as a zero duration milestone (diamond).
- Auto-scheduling must be turned on prior to the import in order to schedule your imported plan.
Save an Excel XLSX file
To import your MS Planner plan into Verto, you must first create an export file.
Exporting data from MS Planner generates an XLSX spreadsheet that may contain multiple worksheets, depending on the content of your plan. The import feature only imports data from the ‘Project tasks’ worksheet, which aligns with the Verto Tasks & Milestones table. Any additional worksheets within the XLSX export file will be ignored.
Import MS Planner XLSX
Whilst in the Tasks & Milestones area, click on the downward arrow next to Add Milestone and select Import > Import MS Planner XLSX.
In the pop-up that appears, click on ‘Import MS Planner XLSX’ and locate your XLSX file. Alternatively, drag and drop the file into the box. When the file has been imported a green tick will be displayed.
The following information will be imported into Verto from each task and milestone in MS Planner:
- Name: Mapped to task/milestone title in Verto
- Task Indentation: Mapped to task hierarchy (indent/group) in Verto
- Start: Mapped to start date in Verto
- Finish: Mapped to end date in Verto
- % Completed: Mapped to Percentage Complete in Verto
- Depends On/Dependents (after): Mapped to dependencies in Verto (shown on the Gantt as a drawn line). Dependency link type is respected. i.e. Finish to Start, Start to Start, Start to Finish, Finish to Finish.
- Milestone: This field is used to determine if the record is a milestone (zero duration) or a one-day task.
