How to import data from MS Planner (integration)

Advice

  • Only MS Planner basic plan types can be imported using this feature.
  • You must be logged into Verto using Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • This feature is intended for the one-time migration of data from MS Planner into Verto and does not support recurring imports. Importing the same data more than once will create duplicate records.

The MS Planner integration allows users to import their Planner data directly into Verto without the need to first create and upload an XLSX export file. Plans can be imported into Boards (Personal or Project) or into the Task & Milestone table.

Importing into Tasks & Milestones

Whilst in the Tasks & Milestones area, click on the downward arrow next to Add Milestone and select Import > Import from MS Planner.

In the pop-up that appears, select the plan you want to import and click Import.

The following information will be imported into Verto from the selected plan:

  • Name: Mapped to task/milestone title in Verto
  • Description: Mapped to description field in Verto
  • Start: Mapped to start date in Verto
  • Due Date: Mapped to end date in Verto

Advice

  • Records will only be imported into Verto if they have a title and a start or end date.
    • If the due date is blank, the start date is copied into the due date and the start date is erased.
    • If the start date is the same as the due date, the Gantt will display the record as a Milestone

Importing into Boards

Navigate to the relevant board area (Personal or Project) and access the board templates option. See How to create a Board for further information on this.

In the templates area, you will see a new ‘Import from MS Planner’ template option. Select this.

In the pop-up that appears, select the plan you want to import and click Import.

The following information will be imported into Verto from the selected plan:

  • Plan Title: Mapped to Board Title in Verto
  • Buckets: Mapped to Board Lists in Verto
  • Cards: Mapped to Cards in Verto
  • Card Data:
    • Title
    • Bucket (List)
    • Description
    • Start Date
    • Due Date
    • Check Lists
    • Attachments (inserted as links within the card description text box)
